was talking to an airline exec & it seems they have spare capacity on an aircraft of 737 size.

Roughly 1/2 week, due to delivery/retirement of aircraft not matching up.

Got talking about where anyone could use it for charters, international or domestic.

Suggested Christmas school holidays, when fares are highest, might be the go, but is there enough lead time.

Exec said aircraft could be based anywhere, but SE Qld was best option.

So where does everything think, Xmas charters would work, as in make money, at relatively short notice ?

Or is it too late & would advertising costs, negate any profit.

The airline was very keen to move the aircraft & even suggested they'd "rent it out" at low cost or even profit/loss share.

Interesting concept.

What about a route like BNE/AVV/PER & back few days a week for 3 weeks mid December to mid January ?

That would give the 3 routes to sell BNE/PER, BNE/AVV & AVV/PER one way or return. Said AVV as costs must be much lower than MEL.

or ADL instead of AVV ?

or to NZ ? Queenstown maybe or ? Realise trans-Tasman is a blood bath, but not at Christmas.

Is this pie in the sky stuff ?

Was told not to mention airline.

POM>BNE in the week before Christmas and BNE>POM in the weeks after New Year?
