The other day I went out and had forgotten to replace the memory card in this camera after downloading from the card.

It took maybe 15 pictures before it told me that it was out of memory and I realised what had happened. I then put in the spare card that I carry in the case in it.

That message told me that the photos had been recorded on the cameras HDD memory. In my previous Sony, same thing happened once and I could take 6 shots, and I downloaded them from the camera's HDD later.

With this camera, I can't see any way to download them. When I connect via USB in non charging mode, All I see in 'my computer' are Hdd icons on the day the pics were taken, and they won't copy.

On line help refers to a HDD Management function under 'Settings' , again, which I don't seem to have.

Anyone have suggestions? I'm thinking of @JohnM, @drron, @Buzzard or any other AFFer who might have one:)

I've got the HX9V so not sure if the menu is the same, but hope it's similar/of help.

Go to settings (the briefcase), then on the "Memory card tool" menu (the one showing the memory card icon on the left) there is an option to "Copy" which says it will copy all images from internal memory to your card. Have you tried that (with an empty card)?

You should then be able to transfer as with any pictures on the card.

Are you running the latest version of firmware? Bit of a long shot question, but you never know.

That's a thought - will check, thanks, but I'd think that functionality should be basic.

From just having a browse in google for problem solving, does it make any difference to your missing camera settings if you have the memory card in when trying to do the download from the hard drive? Also some mentions of directing the photos to an external card reader
