Sounds like a Mini Cooper S :p

Anyway, I've just deactivated the offer for +1 and myself before our points evaporate quicker than petrol at a fuel spill!
I almost did MEL-SYD in my Mini JCW a few years ago. They're a lot of fun on the roads and highway cruising is a breeze (even with that one being a 1.6 T4, it got great mileage on the open road). Have a 2015 JCW now, which is a bigger engine. Not tried that on a long cruise yet, but will not be filling up with VA points :p

*edit*
meant to say I almost made MEL-SYD on a single tank (just over 850km I got out of her). It was a bigger tank than this one too :(

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

When I fueled up last week it was the first time since the pay with points deal came in. I was at pains to make sure I didn't pay with points but I disappointed the lady serving me as she wanted to see what would happen and every single person that day had refused to pay with points. Looks like a successful offer. I explained it wasn't worth it for people who travelled regularly and had plenty of points but it could be useful to those who rarely fly or accumulate enough points to do so.

Thanks for the info here - I've just deactivated pay with points so I'll never be bothered again!

A while back I made the SYD-MEL drive in a 1982-89 (Nov 88 plate) Toyota Celica SX (old whale tail one) and got to the far side of MEL without refueling. The light had come on around 40km earlier so I figured there was another 50km to go. Turned out when I refilled it, I had around 4 litres left.

Being a manual did allow the joy of coasting down a number of those long down hills. It only had a 60l tank for a 1998cc engine but by the end of the model run Toyota had so improved/tuned the engine it was brilliant for fuel economy (and acceleration when needed).
