Palm Sugar Thai Cafe on Collins Street in Melbourne CBD has signs saying no Amex but its terminal actual takes it!

Someone liked one of my oooold posts in this thread and it reminded me of a sign I took a photo of recently in a coffee shop. Had to laugh when I saw that Visa Debit was a higher surcharge than AMEX!

I saw that too at a cafe this morning. Paid by AMEX and felt "glad" for it. Though there was a time in the not too distant past that these costs were just a cost of doing business for the retailer rather than a stealth price rise.

Thought Debit was a flat rate much like EFTPOS - that's the way it was organised on a Suncorp Terminal I helped set up some years ago.
