I am flying on SQ218 next week with Mrs Shano and two mini-shano's (5 and 7) in Y and returning on SQ227 early next month.

I am VA SG and the others have no status.

The VA website indicates that as a SG I am permitted one guest in the SKL in MEL and likewise at the *G lounge in SIN, however children are also considered as a "guest".

How strictly is this enforced, moreso in MEL as I am not too fussed about lounge access in SIN - i.e. is it worth asking, or not even worth attempting due to strict enforcement.

Looking for any anecdotal evidence that there is some flexibility in entry.

I have been successful at bringing in a guest in SKL on mainland Au when travelling on SQ J. Not exactly the evidence you seek. My approach has always been to approach without the guests in tow, ask politely on entry, 'if it's at all possible if it's not too busy as I know it may not be always possible, just thought I'd ask if there is capacity at the moment."

Well I took your advice Albatross710 and asked politely at the lounge. Now enjoying a G&T in the SKL with mrs shano and the two mini shano's as entry was not a problem.

The express cards given out at checkin were an added bonus so a good start to the trip.

Just need to remember to grab the transit vouchers at SIN.

Sounds like a good start to the trip. By transit vouchers, don't forget the Changi Shopping vouchers at S$40 per person. Can be claimed on the return trip if not this time.

hmm I've not heard of these ones. Last two trips have been with Singapore Air, Business Class using points... what have I missed?

Also, if you are doing redemptions and it suits you, you can book as two one way redemptions and enjoy the S$40 in each direction. A return tix only gets the S$40 once.
