Skipped silver status - lounge invitation?

So I recently attained Gold status with QF. I wasn't ever a Silver member since I had attained the status credits to reach Gold, but hadn't flown 4 sectors.

It looks like I don't receive the Silver lounge invitation. Is there a way of getting this so that I could give it to my parents? Or is gifting no longer available anyway?

Gifting is certainly still available, it's done electronically these days via a QFF portal so your parents need to be QFF members. I've recently availed myself of this (both as a recipient and as a giver) so worth chasing up.

Just be aware that complimentary Lounge Invitations are not valid at all locations.

I mean, otherwise Gold and Platinum members would complain they don't get lounge invitations that they can gift, each year they requalify. I mean, perhaps we do complain about that, but it doesn't help

I saw sxc's situation in a different light ...

SGs and WPs *retaining* their status never lose lounge access so don't qualify.

*if* sxc went from NB to SG in a single year then they should be able to claim a degree of eligibility during that year (even though - technically - sxc was never Silver). As I said, worth chasing up since QF (used to) send out the Gold Coasters if you skipped from Silver to Plat in a single itinerary ... though the bean-counters may have closed this little loophole too.

This can be a bit hit and miss. It takes a few days for Qf to origanise your silver pack and send it out. That comes with the lounge invite (well, it used to, now it's electronic).

If there's not a sufficient gap, and you go straight from bronze to gold, they don't always issue the free pass.

Worth asking, but don't get too upset if they knock you back. I'd say you probably aren't eligible given the lack of four sectors.

We should complain about this!
Having gained life time silver but not yet lifetime gold I think they should give me a couple of passes each year.
It would also make sense as a marketing exercise - let me introduce family and friends to the lounge and infect them with the status chasing bug!

Lifetime silver gets 1 free lounge pass a year. That's because you have retianed silver.

In the OP's case they never actually attained silver because of the missing QF sectors.

I'm presuming thats lifetime silver with no other status? Otherwise I imagine there would be a lot of SG/WP/P1's who get a free lounge pass every year

Yes. All the others have complimentary Q Club membership.

Yes I am aware of that.
My point is that as long as I retain Silver or better status annually I am receiving no benefit from lifetime silver.
I think a couple of giftable lounge passes each year would be a sensible bonus even if you have lounge access yourself because of your annual status.
Which is of course no benefit at all if your class of travel entitles you to lounge access anyway.
Risks going off topic so I won't continue afer this, but it's essentially the same point as the OP because these giftable vouchers are the only silver benefit you miss when you have higher status!
