Hello again (after a break) :D,

I'm just looking at the seat map, and can see that this Airbus A330 has a few single seats in the middle section at the rear of the cabin. Now what I'm wondering is, what is in that space where there is no seat? As if looking from the rear of the aircraft to the front, there are 2 seats, then nothing/something?! and then the single seat.
Who has an explanation for me

Hey leny. These aren't actually single seats but rather where the aircraft tapers at the end. It would be physically impossible to seat 4 accross because the aircraft becomes narrower towards the back. ie. 2-3-2 It's just the way the airline map is showing them because the aisle seat will be G with no F seat.

I guess it's similar to the QF 747's which become 2-4-2 at the back compared to 3-4-3 in the middle. These are generally pretty good seats as it means less people around you, providing you don't mind being right down the back and waiting longer for food/drinks. Though on 2-4-2 config, I would definitely take the window or aisle on the sides of the aircraft as close to the front as I could. ;)

I don't believe these are single seats, but rather where the aircraft has reduced width at the back, they only put three seats in the middle rather than 4.

Because of the way they're numbered and the letters used, they appear in that seat map as a seperate seat rather than three being together.

Have a look for example at Cathay's own seat map here for the A340-300.

Thanks littl_flier and Mal. :)

There are seats available in rows 39 on, but the entire section is marked as being on the wing. Not sure how much can be seen from such seats as it is a day flight.

Also, Cathay Pacific's seat maps are not accessible at this time. Not for me anyway.

I updated the link to the Cathay Map, it doesn't seem to like direct linking to the maps themselves.

Avoid 66 D/E/G at all costs IMHO !
Some A330's in that row have fixed armrests, the aidio control sticks out into your seat space ! very uncomfortable seats. But not all of them are like this just some, so for this reason i avoid row 66.

Usually i am all for forward isle, but i tried down the back with free seats beside me one day.

The seats down the back of the cabin get to hear noise from the galley. I made this mistake in December 07. Every time someone presses their call button, it rings in the galley, and is quite irritating.
