Hi experts , I have had this strange issue of the hotel charging money on my card when they were supposed to release the hold ( checked out on 6th Jul). I have been trying to explain this and asking for the refund of the money. The standard response I get is that it is a hold and that it will be released soon.

This is the first time that a temp hold has been posted as an approved transaction on my credit card ( never had a hold appear in the statement either for accommodation or car rentals).

Reached out to the property multiple times but to no avail.

Can someone suggest what is the best course of action in this case as the Marriott customer service has confirmed that it is a franchise and they cannot do anything other than reaching out to the hotel. I insisted on escalating up the chain in Bonvoy program but I am not sure if they are going to do anything.

Thanks for your time.

It sounds like a case of miscommunication combined with “Fiji time” urgency. Don’t waste any more time with the Property. Just raise a chargeback with your CC provider and provide your email exchange as evidence if necessary.
