I do have the Conrad in Singapore booked for an upcoming trip, but was looking at Sentosa Island hotels and thought we may stay 1 night there during our stay as we plan on doing Universal Studios and few other things on the island.

Any suggestions or first hand info? A lot of the TA reviews are pretty ordinary and nothing is jumping out at me.

Shangri-La is ok according to a few friends, albeit none have stayed there since 2010.

Avoid the Siloso Beach Resort. A nice looking property I grant, but maintenance isn't as good as it should be - a problem in a humid climate which may cause a small stench in your guest room if they don't maintain the weather intregity of the room.

You could easily get there via the MRT from the Conrad. There's two stations either side of the hotel in walking distance, and you just need to go downline to Dhoby Ghaut before downline to Harbourfront. Factoring in transfers and getting thru VivoCity, you're looking at about 30min. Ok if adults, but might be a strain on kids if you have them.

Thewinchester pretty much sums it up.

I've stayed at both shangri la and sentosa breach resort and the shangri la is a great location and has good view.

IMO. Only stay on sentosa For the convenience: hotels are much pricer than ones not on the island generally speaking.

Stayed at the Shangri-La a couple of years ago with the family in a sea view room, rooms were good and top view.
It is a bit of a zoo at breakfast time so get there early if you can and ordering meals and drinks poolside was way too slow.
There are plenty of things to do on the island for the family.

I stayed at the Movenpick Sentosa in 2011 in the new wing while under construction. There were a few teething problems such as intermittent air-conditioner operation no room service and a temporary restaurant. Which would all be Ironed out by now, very comfortable rooms, beds and great staff.

If you are planning to do Universal and only stay 1 night then I would recommend staying at one of the resorts world sentosa hotels (Hard Rock, Crockfords, etc) You have walking distance access to Universal, a number of dining options, mono rail station and so on. I spent three nights at Siloso Beach Resort in October just gone and would not recommend it. Its in a nice location, has a great pool but the food and room were both fairly ordinary (family room for 2A + 2C). As the winchester said catching the MRT from the city is a good option and very easy to do but personally I found after spending the day at Universal that staying on the island gave us a chance to duck back to our hotel and shower/change before heading out for the night again. Regardless of where you stay the western half of the island is very well connected between the free bus services, trolley and monorail and simple to get around.

The W is quite nice, from a resort POV. I would suggest it has one if the nicest pools in SIN, but transport is not readily available to other parts of the island. There is a shuttle to Vivo and you can get taxis, I cannot remember if there is transport to the rest of the island.

Actually- 9:10 and 9:30 are shuttle times to RWS in the AM. No shuttle back that I can see, unless you go to Vivo.

I liked the hotel and would go back, but it is not cheap, and food also is pricey (compared to SIN 5 star prices eg Fullerton, fairmont, conrad.)
