I'm looking for Travel Insurance for an 80+ year old (not me for the peanut gallery) for a trip between Oz and the UK.

I can't find any recent threads so though I would ask the brains trust here.

Does anyone have any good suggestions :?:

Using that link (thanks drron) a one month policy for "Worldwide" travel next year would cost someone "81+" $929.

Steep... but if it makes travel possible........probably good value. (Unlimited medical BTW - But I didn't check into pre-existing conditions)

No idea what it's like but an "older" friend of mine uses Ace insurance

A Google search let me to this previous AFF thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer....uestions/travel-insurance-over-80s-17261.html in which Suncorp seems to be recommended as the best bet. You'd need to check current rates though, as that's an old thread.

When I searched recently at a slightly lower age band, First for Women (awful name!) had the lowest age loading for under 75s of all the companies using Allianz as their underwriters (and therefore identical PDFs, with a good range of accepted pre-exisiting medical conditions). The charge to my credit card was in the name of Worldcare travel insurance, but the Worldcare rates I found online were quite a bit higher. There's much I don't understand here, but it's booked now. However, First for Women don't offer insurance for over 75s so no use to the OP.

I was thinking ahead and have swapped to this company.Annual policy only until 69 but single trip policies over 80 but with a medical assessment needed.
Discount at present-

so these are quotes for an 81 yr old to UK for a month.

another case where i happily sing the praises of the complimentary ANZ Platinum credit card travel insurance - covers up to 80 years of age for 6 months away at a time. Has saved my parents thousands of dollars!

Yes, I'll take advantage of that next time. But when I booked my trip & flights for next year & took out insurance to cover the same I hadn't then been invited to upgrade to platinum (& wouldn't otherwise have qualified).

I did check ACE: their maximum age is 89 with no medical certificate required, but for my age at this time I found more comprehensive cover with a lower age loading.

The Ace policies I can see require the traveller to be not over 69 yrs so unfortunately no good on this occasion.

Where did you find the 89 and no medical requirement info? I can't locate same.
