My wife and I are counting down the days until we attend the Australian Grand Prix next weekend in Melbourne. While we're thrilled about watching the race, we're also eager to make the most out of our trip to this vibrant city.

We're seeking advice from seasoned attendees or locals on how to craft a truly memorable experience beyond just the race itself. Whether it's hidden gems to explore in Melbourne, must-try restaurants or cafes, cultural attractions, or any unique activities happening around the city during the GP weekend, we'd love to hear your suggestions!

I have already found this excellent off the track guide which has mentioned some great places to experience while someone is in Melbourne to attend the Australian GP.

Additionally, if anyone has tips on how to navigate the event efficiently or insider knowledge on the best viewing spots at the track, feel free to share it here.

Thank you in advance for your help, and we can't wait to make the most out of our Australian GP adventure in Melbourne!

I love this place and take everyone here
Stunning sculptures and great food (a range of options from casual terrace to indoors).
About 50mins drive from Melbourne— love it.

NGV/IAN POTTER Gallery are in city free and both great

Becco in city is great Italian

I love Chin Chin too for Asian food

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not sure, we will be going outside Melbourne but thanks for your suggestion 👍

We’re lucky to be staying at a friend's place. It’s near the central business district which is a train ride from the track. Everyone uses trains there when possible.
You are lucky having a friend’s place to stay, accom costs go through the roof naturally…I’ve lived in Melbourne, generally some 15 minutes from the track, most of my life so I know that where you are staying can make a big difference as to where you might visit in a short amount of time. It’s a big, well spread out, city and suburbs.
BTW. The transport to/from the track is the light rail/tram network (#96 from the CBD goes direct)
There’s no train to Albert Park.

And wear earplugs!!
I used to live 3km from track and the noise in backyard was LOUD!
