Hi all, due to a recent experience of vomiting after eating the beef meal in Y, I received an email stating that I'm receiving a certificate for a free Op-Up for 1 Sector. I was considering travelling PE
to either SIN or HKG RT & using the Op-Up to get J from SIN/HKG - MEL. Was thinking of HKG/SIN 5 days as PE would be doable price wise, (I normally fly Y) & haven't been to Singapore or Hong Kong.
Haven't received the Certificate yet so don't know if there's other T&C's than listed below.

T&C's are as follows:

You are requested to book travel in the class for which your ticket will be issued and surrender this certificate at the check-in counter. In the event that we are not able to upgrade you on your chosen flight, the certificate will be returned to you for future use. Any frequent flyer mileage earned on the flight on which you have been upgraded will be accrued based on the ticketed class, not the class of travel. This certificate:

1. Can only be redeemed at the time of check-in and acceptance is subject to the availability of a seat in the next higher class of service. Cathay Pacific(CX) or Dragonair(KA) shall assume no responsibility or liability in the event that no seat is available in the next higher class of service.
2. Is valid only on flights operated by Cathay Pacific(CX) or Dragonair(KA) aircraft as indicated on the voucher.
3. Is good for one flight sector only (i.e. travel between two points on the same aircraft with no change of flight number).
4. Cannot be used in conjunction with frequent flyer award travel (including redemption upgrades), complimentary tickets or industry/ agent discount fares.
5. Bears no cash value and is not good for refund or in exchange for a replacement certificate or other services if lost, stolen, damaged or unused.
6. Can only be used by the person names hereon and is non-transferable.
7. Is only valid when validated by Cathay Pacific(CX) or Dragonair(KA) and is void if altered or damaged.
8. Terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notice.

So based the current information, I would like to know:
• Which days, dates/flight periods & flight times to book/avoid in order to best chance to snag a J Op-Up home.
• If I check in early enough & get Op-Up'd to J, would I be likely to get Lounge Access?
• PE Seats/Planes best to Book/Avoid?
Alternative Non Stop flights/destinations in order to Maximise the value of my certificate?

I'm new to AFF & FFing in general, so any advice will be most appreciated.
