Don't think their is a bad seat in that cabin.

Qantas website shows a 6.15am opening time for both the J and F Lounges.. so you will have pretty limited time I suspect

When is the OP flying ?
I can recall from another thread recently Red Roo saying that the MEL F lounge will be opening at 5:30am shortly.

Wait and see.
If swap I will just cry into my coffee.
Or fly J with QF's JC. 24 hrs later if I stick with EK, coo!!!
If I get moved to 1A that's ok, too.
Will get to test the QF MEL int J lounge in a few hours though. ADL QP soon today, my first dinner there test.
One tick marked.
Edit: ta Nizar for that.
OK, will leave the board in peace.

Enjoy the F Poochie. Lap up the luxury! I am still to do the TT EK in F though it's on my to-do list. Sadly my WP fell away a couple of years ago so I only got to visit the SYD Flounge a few times (wah).

Poochie - NEVER say never in terms of your comment that this would be your "one and only" chance to get into the MEL (or SYD) F lounge. All your NZ runs may net you WP status, you could get an invite from a friend, you could self-fund EK (or QF :) ) F again at some point via points ot other method. NEVER say NEVER in my view.

I understand the stupid qf.com won't allow for F booking on MEL-SIN (or ADL-MEL-SIN) as it seems to only think Y/J are an option. So you have to call QF (or an online TA to book the flight as a QF #).. what's the problem? if you call QF you can't do it online so fees should be waived.. so I don't see the problem.

I know you are obsessed with aircraft subs due to your 767 thing (and NZ) but seriously, on an F fare you won't get downgraded to JC (or worse) if you don't want to - you can get a refund or a rebooking on the RARE chance that the EK flight doesn't run or is cancelled or something. For tag flights EK seems loath to cancel these that I've noticed. so I reckon book it and don't worry about such things until you have to, which you most likely won't.

Anyway enjoy your dog walk across the ditch

Another way to book first on EK flights to Asia is to buy a flight voucher and then redeem it - first shows up as an option to select when redeeming.

That must be new. It hasn't for me previously on sectors with F (eg: MEL-AKL).

good work

RichardMEL, while it might seem I have a secret stash of $, I don't.
Will not make 1400 or 1200 or 1000 QF SC yearly.
600 to 800 QF SC is a yearly max.

mate you're missing the point. You're being negative. NEVER SAY NEVER.

You never know what is around the corner.

I'll tell you now 20 years ago the notion of me flying F on any carrier let alone purchasing a F fare of any sort was just not on the radar.

things happen. Be positive :)

Was able to book MEL-SIN on EK F this way.

The added bonus with buying and redeeming flight vouchers is that you pay no credit card fees. :)

Bookings with a visa debit on the QF website usually attracts $2.50.
My F booking from MEL - AKL with my visa debit this time has no fee.
I don't have a visa credit anyway.
