Re: The totally off-topic thread

I don't like to start a new thread for every minute permutation of an existing topic. I believe there's enough of that happening.

Nothing wrong with starting a new thread titled "I got Markis10s Club invite by mistake - here's proof "

If you start a new thread it will either flourish or die away. Not really an issue IMHO.

I respectfully disagree.

News threads on what is substantially the same topic makes searching more difficult and advocates members starting new threads whenever they have a question, rather than spending a small amount of time researching and reviewing existing threads where they may well find what they're looking for.

Maybe you could do a search using this link:
The problem is with vBulletin software - I surmise it's a compromise between indexing size and functionality.

Unless I have ONE key word to search for I generally do not use it.
...
I have a shortcut to that bookmarked: "<search "all these words"> site:www.austalianfrequentflyer.com.au"

See what happens with the following search terms: ["the club" virgin australia velocity]

Re: The totally off-topic thread

That worked. Thank you. I will now try to use that when searching.

For everyone else, please know that I did not start this thread.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Just trying to understand here how it was better to start a thread titled "searching for virgin's the club thread" which would appear in searches for "the club" than starting a thread titled "virgin's the club packs" and including a note along the lines of "mods please merge this with the "the club" thread"?

I understand your sentiment, though think it could have it's own thread as it'd be solely focused on what the pack looks like. That said, I'm sure that would drift off topic anyway, but the fact remains the search system isn't great, so limiting duplicate threads would be beneficial.

The first posts of this thread were moved from the TOTT as they were deemed too on topic for that thread. As a result the OP is now noted as starting this thread, even though their initial post here was actually in reply to another thread.

Please blame me for the title ...

I hope that helps ...

OK - that makes more sense now. Apologies to Danger for any offense.

I just did a search for "the+club" in titles only and it did not bring up anything relating to Virgin's The Club. In fact, it brought up only one result in the Virgin sub-forum.

Not a problem. As has been pointed out, we're on the same wavelength.
