Hi All,

Would anyone be able to confirm for me the number of SCs earnt in J on JAL KMQ-HND. From my calculations it's 40. What's throwing me is the ~$15 difference between Y and J. I know JAL are in some sort of trouble, but are they that desperate to get pax?

If it is indeed 40, that will push me to 340 SCs by the end of my FF year. As I'm so close and have never been within reach before, I'm thinking of a SC run to ensure I reach PS. With a LONE4 planned for next year, this will come in handy for extra points and Business checkin on my non-QF/AA/BA flights (I'm already QP).

The most cost effective from what I can tell is a one way classic award and a one way ASA to/from KGI from PER. Doesn't matter what order - I only need the extra 10SCs in one direction. This will be around 23000 points + $30 (or a few less points with points plus pay). Should be able to get up and back in an afternoon or evening so no accomodation.

Can anyone else think of a better routing for around the same cost?

Cheers, Dejium

To be honest I needed to look at where KGM was. Map here: Great Circle Mapper

You will get 20 SC's each way.

I can see this for 21800 Yen which is about AUD280 giving $7 per SC. JL have a special that for an extra 1000 yen you fly J. Personally I think it rocks.

Are you sure that one of the specials to the east coast isn't a better way to get those SC's and tie both in together?

Hi!

I cannot confirm the SC you would earn.

But I can confirm the so-called business class airfare on JAL domestic. From memory, ALL JAL domestic business class cost an extra 1,000yen or roughly AUD15 per leg/sector.

The main difference again from memory:

1. Larger seats
2. You get an extra pack of snack or cookie.

I am not sure about boarding priority/extra luggage, etc.

Enjoy your trip!
Hiro

Thanks sr81 and D Hiro.

The J seat does seem an excellent deal - I've seen this route as low as Y10900 one way - a bargain in my book.

I really only need to fly KMQ-HND one way, as I'll be doing a loop around the island - Tokyo-Osaka-Komatsu-Tokyo (Train, Train, Air). It's not really a SC run as such, it's just a quicker way of getting back to Tokyo. The offshoot of it is that it brings me might closer to reaching PS for the first time.

sr81, how did you come up with 20SC each way? Was this Economy or Business? From the Qantas SC earning table I'm calculating 40SC.

East coast would be more SCs but I'm not sure if I see the value in getting more than than I absolutely need.
