The missus and I generally like to have LOTS of water on our long haul flights and don't want to bother the cabin crew with our constant requests for refills. So we buy a few bottles of water after the screening is done and take it onboard with us.

However, on a couple of occasions, there is an additional screening at the gate for liquids over 100mL, which meant we had to ditch our recently bought water.

This just happened on AUH -> PER, on EY and DXB -> PER on EK.

Anyone know why there is another liquids screening just before boarding the plane?!

Cheers

It is paranoia run riot and done at the behest of the Australian government to support the stupidity of LOTFAP.

Basically any flight to Australia is subject to extra checks to ensure jobsworths have something to do.

Very noticeable at BKK as well.

Coming back from HKG in CX they have a search after entering the departure gate tunnel before the aerobridge. Their signage is this secondary church is for flights to USA & Australia. Has been happening for s while.

No. You simply have to press your FA call button and request some. Don't be shy; after safety, that is what they are there for.
