Qatar a few years ago, and I think still do tout their free hotel offer when flying F or J and with long transits at DOH. I found to my chagrin that services ex Australia were specifically excluded!

United at least used to offer free hotel rooms for even 3-4 hr layovers at LAX between international arrivals and onwards domestic connections - 20 years ago when I went to NYC somewhat regularly!! How things have changed

JAL used to put you up in Narita on the way through to Europe as the first connecting was the next day if you flew from SYD. Not sure if it still occurs as it's been a few years since we flew them.
