Scoot to Gate - SYD

Had an interesting experience today, checking in online for a Scoot flight ex SYD.

The first time I tried it, using my UK passport (as I'm flying to the UK via SIN), the computer said NO, I have to check in manually at airport.

The second time I tried it, using my Australian passport, the computer said OK, and issued the boarding pass.

Why would that be, I wonder?

I do know, that if a dual citizen, you need to exit and arrive Australia with your Australian passport.

I have had exceptions made to that rule - but I have needed to explain them to check-in staff/passport control.
