CUSTOMS officers at Dublin airport were shocked to discover a live dog inside a passenger's bag.

When they first saw the outline of the dog on the airport scanner staff thought it was a stuffed toy, the UK’s Telegraph reports.


However when they opened the luggage for closer inspection they discovered the tiny Chihuahua inside, hidden in a cage.

Trying to save a few bucks at the expensive of this pets comfort (or even life) is reprehensible, and I hope he is punished severely.

Notably it didn't say whether this was a checked-in bag or hand carry. Had the dog been suitably sedated, hand carry would have been a whole lot better, though admittedly, still cruel.

I wonder what the penalty is? I guess it's to do with quarantine, so quite high.
