Scams like these

Those are calls, or maybe SMS.
0488 856 ***
0422 299 ***
02 3816 15** with an exclamation mark.
02 7246 43**
Now I’m intrigued as to how these scams work! :)

So is it someone calling you and talking to you, how do they get far enough before you hang-up to get to the part of the conversation where they ask you to download something? Or is it a pre-recorded message?

Scary and very realistic.
Appeared in my email.
I opened it, on Smartphone, but did not verify.
---
Wufoo form builder was used.
(W) was the sender in my YM.

Someone has pinged onto Qantas Money and using Wufoo form builder.
Very realistic.
(Account will be closed).
Silly me, I opened the email, but didn't go to the link.

Calls too, but I don't answer.
SMS esp.
Wants me to download something.
Not going to do that, of course.
Most likely the 029 or 039 numbers are spoofed.
Who knows tho.

Prerecorded call, yep, had that too.
The Mandarin speaking girl.

ACMA/ACCC anti scam laws are a worthless fed gov money spend tho, as we keep getting all these, still.

I had my hotel I booked in Bangkok for September "message" me again via Whatsapp. The number showed up as being in Indonesia. I just reported it and blocked it. (had another scammer contact me a month earlier via Whatsapp to "confirm my credit card details" - I contacted the hotel - they said they never used Whatsapp to contact guests).

Booked through booking,com ?

Booked through booking,com ?
Yes. I had this once before from a hotel in Vietnam a couple of years ago but in that case the call was coming from inside the house. The "please update credit card details" message came through the Booking app.
I guess it pays to ignore everything about payment.

Does this mean that someone had broken into booking.com?
Hard to say, where the breach occured.
Have used that one before, but never been asked to confirm payment info via "providing" card details direct to hotel/chalte/apartment.
Odd occurance/just coincidence?
(((Or, it could be that the hotel staff/management are crooked, and somehow are able to use booking.coms name, and play their tricks)))...

Yes, Booking.com was hacked back in April.

For anyone with current reservations via that platform, there’s an embedded message function that would be the normal way for properties to message clients and v.v.

But never pass on payment details. That’s processed by the relevant platform and any request is potentially a Phishing scam.
