Scams like these

I will admit I fell for this, i get a mygov msg a few times a year

Clicked it , only realised it was a scam when it said "security cloud flare detected" or something like that and didnt work, hovering over the link showed it was some weird link
 
My wife and I got scammed recently via an Instagram ad.

She saw the ad on Instagram (I don't use Instagram) for a product.

I went to the website, looked ok. I made the mistake of not checking the domain. If I did I would have seen the trust pilot bad reviews.

I ordered the product, paid AUD$77 via Paypal.

The website sent me tracking info via tracking-hub.com - after about a month of these dodgy looking emails, I looked up tracking-hub.com and lo and behold, trust pilot reviews indicate this is a known fake scam tracking website.

I've initiated a Paypal dispute to try to get a refund. At least these scammers don't have my direct credit card.

So if the seller sends you tracking information via tracking-hub.com, know that you've been scammed.
 
The view in browser and Verify Now links are both phishing but the landline really is Qantas Wine so not quite next level

We don't do much online shopping but last Thursday I made a clothing purchase, due to arrive via AusPost scheduled for this Wednesday.
Saturday get an email, parcel with different tracking number is arriving today ( Anzac Day) please "confirm address".
No thank you.
Have been tracking via AusPost and hasn't left Brisbane yet.
Interestingly , almost every time Mr Flyfrequently buys something - same thing happens 🤦‍♀️

Not an IT person so no idea whether possible, but can someone dodgy have a cookie or something else stored on your online shopping device that just alerts them if you visit AusPost? Then it lets them know to target you with that particular scam?

I delete cookies and ‘website data’ regularly and get very little spam.

Y’know … while I’m in IT I’m not really in that part of IT (it’d be like someone who “works in automotive” as a car manufacturer HR expert to fix your car’s gearbox) … but I think what you’ve said is possible albeit not super likely. I actually think it more likely that a subcontractor of a subcontractor of Aus Post has what’s likely a legal agreement to sell information to a 4th-party who’s not necessarily using that info legally.
