I guess the email was from Nigeria. They tend to has a distinctive style.

Looks very authentic but it's not. Westpac are actually doing checks at the moment for the reasons given so an easy trap to fall into

I just got an email with the subject: "Request for assistance". I do run a consultancy so get all sorts of requests but normally with relevance to what I do and the sender will elaborate. But this one smacks of a Facebook marketplace scammer:

Good morning , I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately, I'm dealing with laryngitis and have a severe throat infection, making it difficult for me to speak over the phone right now. However I have no idea what the plan is here. I guess the aim is just to make contact with a live person and from there anything can happen if I'm gullible enough. I have no FOMO whatsoever so there's no way I will fall into the same traps my in-laws always did.
