Hi all,

Discovered this website the other day and when i have had the chance i have been reading the posts. But as always info on active boards can be weeks, months, years old!

I have been a Qantas gold member for 2 years now and hopefully will make it a 3rd in Oct!

I have a few questions so any answers would be much appreciated!

  1. what sort of status runs do people do from perth domestic or international?
  2. what offers the best value for SC? (cash only, points and pay or any seat awards)
  3. do you earn SC for partner airlines if there not code shares?

like i said any help would be appreciated!

little about myself...

I am a Geo on a mine site and lucky enough to work week on/week off. I usually take a trip somewhere every other week off (started indirect flights to places if cost makes sense too) I have taken a trip back to the UK last couple of years which has bumped me up over gold but don't plan on 1 this year and that's were the status run comes in!

I have ideas of trips to Dubai and Japan planned but nothing booked (hoping there will be a double SC offer soon)

PS if you use any abbreviation could you put a little explanation next to the first 1 still new to all the lingo flying around :)

Thanks

From Perth a business class any seat award to cairns via sydney can be done in under 24 hours with no need for an overnighter anywhere. 18 dollars in long term parking and around 72,000 points and 300 dollars for 320 status credits

If you want to pay you can also head over to Noumea, its around $2,400 rtn in business & you can get a routing like PER-BNE-MEL-SYD-NOU-SYD-MEL-BNE-PER (520 SC's) to help meet your required number. If it was during a double SC offer - 1040 is pretty helpful... maybe year 3 could be as a WP.

i read up on the links and seen that PER-SYD-CNS is 320 return in business but couldn't justify the 72000 airmiles.

I get a week off every 2nd week so i don't mind spending more than a night somehwhere :)

I was planning on going to cairns in march and was going to go via MEL and get 80SC return but if i do the ASA there and just a normal red edeal on the way back

i get 200SC and pay $700ish ( $130ish cheaper than i would of paid.) and only spend 24000 miles (net) along an extra 120 SC

Sorry if this is an stupid question, but when you book this, as say JASA, do you need to book each leg separately (ie PER-SYD and then SYD-CNS) or just the PER-CNS and select the routing via SYD to maximise SCs?

You got it. Just select perth to cairns initially and select the routing via SYD.

You can run the PER-SYD-KTA-PER and not have to overnight. Again as a JASA. Nowhere near as good as the Noumea run suggested in Post #4 but a handy little earner.

Decided to go with the PER>SYD>CNS ASA buisness one-way $182+36,000 and an normal red deal return, been putting it off, hoping for a DSC email and it finally arrived![h=2]Celebrate 2013 with double Status credits[/h]It came today so booked that bad boy and rebooked my trip to darwin to take advantage of DSC, cost an extra $65 rebooking but managed to keep it in the sale price!

so after the darwin trip i will have kept my gold status for another year, with 5 months to go and 1 month left on of double status credits... to go for platinum or not...

an idea i have is to head to japan from perth stopping HK on the way back to perth any ideas out there???

Qantas have stopped direct flights between Perth and HK so what other options to get status credits, are CP the only ones that fly direct?

Hi everyone, also new here and looking for good SC runs EX-PER.

Dan171:For HK you can route through SIN and change to Malaysian or Jet Star. If not look into going through SYD, some 220 SC that way on Y. Double that if you're looking into using some mile and doing a JASA.

Interested to see what else comes up on this thread!

Welcome, richiya.

Caution. The DSC offer is only for QF-coded flights so MH definitely wouldn't earn (as QF doesn't code on any). JQ may be possible but it depends on the fine print in the email.

Kalgoorlie to Melbourne via Perth earns 120 SC in J, With the price of the JASA virtually the same as Perth-Melb which only earns 80. Both cost 36000pts and less than $200.

JASA PER>SYD>CNS is pretty much the best status run you can do from Perth as there is always business class for 52,000 miles 1 way but points and cash brings it down to 36000 + $186 so return would be 72,000 (48,000 after you earn the miles from the flight)+ $364 and will get 320 SC

I got a normal red edeal for the trip back via Sydney so i will be getting 200SC (400SC with my DSC offer) overall from my trip
