Saver Lite - 2 sectors - no offer to Upgrade Me on 1. Chance of upgrade in lounge?

Booked a 2 sector ticket Saver Lite fare - first sector is PER-SYD (leaving at 05:35am tomorrow).

Expert Flyer is showing plenty of J availabilty.

Though received email 1 week out for Upgrade Me on second sector (SYD-CBR), no invite for PER-SYD (says it's unavailable).

Just wondered if anybody had had any success with getting an upgrade at the lounge (am SG) - happy to use points for this and was going to arrive a little earlier to sort this.

If not, then I might cut the check-in time a bit finer, and spend a bit longer in bed!

Upgrade Me is not available for Saver Lite Fares, it's only available for Flexis. Im guessing you were offered it for SYD-CBR as no-one in their right mind would pay $100+ for a Flexi to J upgrade for a 25 minute flight (and not receive at least J SCs), so they are having difficulty filling the J cabins on those planes.

I thought it was only available for flexis and savers but had an email from VA telling me to bid on my next flight which is a saver lite
