I'm heading off to Europe at Christmas and have a whirlwind 2 week tour planned. The gentleman and I are planning on staying in Rome from 22 to 26 December. I've never been to Italy before so have no idea what to expect but I am assuming that there will be nothing open on Christmas Day. With this in mind, I assume that we need to stay at a larger hotel to ensure we will be able to eat on Christmas Day. As we are only there a few days, we would like to stay somewhere close to the main tourist places. Being Christmas, I know that I won't be getting discounts rates, so recommendations for anything AUD$350 or under would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Highly recommend Boscolo Exedra which is a large grand hotel in an excellent location. Wonderful food and rooms as well as 2 min walk to trains, hop on hop off bus and other things.

Just looking at rates. The Mercure Colosseo is in a good location, decent reviews as well as the Hilton Garden inn

I regularly use the Relais Fontana de Trevi for clients, it's a brilliant location, you can eat your breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Trevi Fountain
