Hello,

Is there any issues with using my velocity points to book a flight for a friend (I won't be travelling). When I log into velocity, and go to redeem flights, it gives the option of making a booking on someone else's behalf - so I'm guessing there is no issue - but I haven't actually gone ahead to make a booking to verify there will be no issues.

Thanks

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have done this in the past with Virgin with no issues, although in my case I have booked a Classic Award for my daughter's friend, then gone back and booked flexi + upgrade seats for my family, and then rung up to get us all seated together.

Unlike the Qantas site, you don't need to specify the relationship ("eg Cousin").

No issue, although I did have to put a relationship so I wasn't charged an extra 5,000 point or so. Perhaps this has changed. But they're not exactly going to request a family tree in any case...

I just used my points to book a J reward on Etihad MEL-AUH-MXP for my partner. No problems except that you need to tell them right from the start its for someone else or else they have to start the process again.

For a one-way redemption the total fees, taxes and surcharges were $74. This is one of the many reasons I'm with VA and not QF.
