Just noticed on my NZ Revolut where I have the metal plan that there is now the option to upgrade to Ultra plan

$79.99 NZD/month gives 1 rev point (=1 avio, qatar, aegean, avianca,TAP mile) per $NZD . much better transfer rate than Amex effectivly
full priority pass. no mention if it includes resturants
.49% crypto trade fee vs 1% with Metal
better insurance? have not looked yet

yes its close to $1,000 p.a but if you do a lot over over seas travel/exps it super competitive since there is near zero foreign transaction costs and miles earning is superior.

I presume there is the same offer for the Australian Revolt cards ?

I don't see it in my Aus revolut acct yet, but if I'm looking at paying $1k for a card with a neo bank, I'd probably prefer to spend the extra $500p/yr and get Amex Platinum even with the hit on transfer rate.

So there are four levels that earn RevPoints in Australia:

Standard - free - 1 RevPoint per 16 AUD
Plus - 5.99 AUD/month - 1 RevPoint per 16 AUD
Premium - 11.99 AUD/month - 1 RevPoint per 8 AUD
Metal - 28.99 AUD/month - 1 RevPoint per 3 AUD

Sadly not. Just got on to the Metal help chat (bot) and got the usual AI nonsense in response to my query. No idea when it's coming here

1:1 earn/redemption with no forex fees is better than the Amex Plat which I have. Also have the US Plat. which has no forex fees but an earn rate of about 0.7:1 with the current exchange rate.. Would probably ditch the Australian card, keep the US one and get Ultra saving A$500 per year

Revolut Ultra is now available in Australia. $1000 per year or $100 per month. I'm unsure why they mention "up to 1 Revpoint per dollar spent". Why "up to"? I thought it's same earn rate regardless of spend type?

I've signed up - given I already subscribe to the FT this is a bit of a freebie

Most transfer partners are at the rate of 2:1 (so a 0.5pt/$ spent) but BA is 1:1 at the moment which is as good as it gets

Not sure about the "up to 1 Revpoint". All at 1:1 so far

Wow, you get free Tinder Gold for those boring moments in life!

But seriousness, there are quite a range of benefits to that card. It's a pity the real details all seem to require signing up first, which seems a bit dirty. Quite happy if this turns out to be a coincidentally convenient way to acquire a few Avios (at least to get to the qualifying threshold for actually buying some during various airlines' discounted purchase offers), given how hard that is in Oz if you don't have an AMEX earning MR.

I'd be really interested in seeing how people rate the value of this card!

I have applied for and been approved for the credit card too. 1.3pts/dollar spent which for most transfer parters is still below Amex but for BA/IB/AY/EI it is 1:1. So if you’re after Avios it’s a reasonable alternative to Amex. And if you want the FT it’s a good addition to Amex ;). I also use the Nord VPN service and there’s 3GB per month of eSIM data for overseas use.

The credit card is Visa Infinite

No Qatar on the Aus product but there is BA so it is easy to shuffle points between the two FF programmes.

Ideally the Aus product would have CX too (but it doesn’t); nor does it have VA. It does have SQ at 2:1 which is still inferior to the Amex offer and plenty of Flying Blue

I could be tempted if it is full Priority Pass and one of subscriptions was Accor Plus. The subscriptions are all pretty useless to me.

I see the credit card button - I pushed it but it doesn't take me anywhere
If debit card earns points on ATO payments that will mean we'll be using pay.com.au a lot less.
Not sure it gets points from ATO

I'm sorry, I can't explain that.

Do you have Metal or Ultra plan? I think they may be the only plans that offer it in Australia. Possibly just Ultra. It was only when I signed up for Ultra that the CC option even appeared🤷‍♂️

Can't tell you about the ATO but I haven't seen any exclusions specifically stated

I have the ultra debit card.

If you read through the RevPoints T&C there are a lot of exclusions

We may also exclude certain specific purchases or transactions from eligibility. Excluded transaction types include the following:

  • payments of rent, real estate management fees, utilities (including electricity and water) and in relation to insurance;
  • donations and payments to charitable, religious, political and governmental organisations;
  • purchases of cigars, cigarettes and similar products;
  • payments for parking and logistics;
  • school or educational fees;
  • postal and procurement service payments;
  • cleaning and maintenance services;
  • lottery or gambling purchases;
  • bank charges, tax payments or payments in relation to legal proceedings or fines; and
  • payments relating to other financial services and investments.

We may also exclude certain specific purchases or transactions from eligibility. Excluded transaction types include the following < does this include via sniip?

Could be a decent avenue if it in fact does come under the debit card fee structure.

It's a Dragonpass LoungeKey sub. No guests though, and no Accor Plus.

I did see that it had a Financial Times sub attached. Must ask my dad as he has an FT sub.

Is it Dragonpass? My app says LoungeKey - “unlimited passes for you & guests”

It is an FT sub - the last time I paid it was A$969 for a full year of unlimited access

I didn’t read the T&Cs because you never get everything from one card & this was a freebie as part of the Ultra Plan.

But you do get 1.3pts and there’s no forex fees so there was nothing left for me to consider. I haven’t received the physical card yet so I haven’t got all the bumf that usually accompanies it. But I’ve done a quick scan within the app and can’t find those exclusions on the CC. Having said that, if they are there I’ll just use my Amex Plat when I’m paying utilities, parking charges or the Accountant.

But, prima facie, I’d suggest that Amex need to lift their game

I also though of this, but I wonder if this precludes things like Sniip/other payment platforms?
payments relating to other financial services and investments.

I also signed up the Ultra plan, as I'll use the Priority Pass, travel insurance and a couple of the subscriptions, and actually need a European bank account. I'd look at getting the CC, but when I click it in the app it says "Credit products under maintenance"
