I know that both Emirates and Philippine Airlines offer a free yet small data usage on their flights. In the case of EK it is 20MB or 2 hours, whichever comes first. PR had a similar offer with a time limit.

I find that at the start of the flight I want to message home with my expected arrival time and then send another update an hour before landing. I'm well under the 20MB but the time limit gets meas 10 hours may have elapsed since I started the service.

Any techo care to suggest how to reset the login start? What does OnAir use to detect my device is the one that has been connected for two hours?

Would MAC address spoofing provide another two hours on one device?

If flying EK, you can subscribe your family to flight status alerts by SMS or email...

If you have an Android phone, you can spoof your MAC address temporarily with various apps, so you could theoretically have wifi for the entire flight. iPhone doesn't allow spoofing.
