FA's dont earn a hell of a lot, they might save $25/$30 in wages MEL-SYD for one person

Sure but each flight from pre board to everyone off at the destination and ready to load again would take a minimum 2-3 hours. Lets call it 2.5 hours x $30 so absolute minimum $75 every flight. How many flights do VA operate each day?

If there was no appropriate inventory available when phoning ahead, not sure why the surprise when there was none available when requested in the lounge...not sure availability should have changed in that area. Frustrating for sure, especially when J is empty, but as we all know, yield management is a tricky beast, and they can only upgrade when seats are available in the appropriate fare bucket.
