Hello Everyone,

My sincere apologies of this has already been answered, but I can't seem to locate a thread regarding this:

If I cancel a Singapore Airlines ticket in which I used Krisflyer Points and also topped up by purchasing miles, then I cancel that ticket, how do the purchased miles get refunded? As a refund to my credit card or as miles deposited back to my Krisflyer account?

Many thanks for any advice!

Cheers.

Might need to carefully consider your options here. According to the Krisflyer T&C

23.e. Purchased miles are non-refundable. In the case where miles from a completely unused award ticket are redeposited into a members account, any purchased miles will not be refunded and will be deemed void.

Maybe, instead of cancelling, can you do a 'change' to another date or destination?

Ahhh...thanks Alby.

Gee, that's a bummer. Looks like I'll be sticking with that silly Business Standard purchase + points top-up, then!

Cheers!

There are always options.....will you share the itin and perhaps ppl might have some suggestions.

I'm thinking you could do a "six month" stopover then use the rest of the itinerary on a future trip?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's SIN-SYD (one way), 02 Jan 2015 x 4 pax.

We got desperate and booked 4 Business Standard redemption + points top-up as the date was getting too close for comfort!
Then of course, this morning the Business Savers cleared waitlist. I have a few days up my sleeve until I need to pull the trigger on the waitlist confirmation...any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I wonder if it's worth exploring how they might prorata the miles if you cancelled 1 or 2 tix. The idea being to get the full miles back on the tix you cancel. Maybe start with one tix refund if it works, then call again and try the 2nd tix. It's a long shot. You also need to consider that the closk is ticking on those Saver waitlist confirmations.

Just wanted to provide an update for everyone's information:

I called SQ today and explained the entire saga, and admitted that I was aware I would have to likely forfeit the points that I purchased (which was a hefty almost 50% of the ticket - something I swore I would never do!) and the fabulous SQ Customer Service Rep. told me he would happily make an exception and credited all the unused points back to my account.
So we managed to change our tix to Business Savers (from Bus. Standard) and get the balance of points back for future use - WONDERFUL service from SQ...I just can't fault them, to be honest. I am thrilled to bits.

Thanks for everyone's help - especially you, Alby. I was all ready to use your idea, which the rep said would have been a valid option, if I had wanted to take it (ie: cancel two tix entirely and they would credit points back to my account and $$$ back to my c/card for taxes etc.) and use the purchased points to cover the remaining two tix. But luckily I ended up being able to take the easy way out!

Now I have a cushy little padding of points in my account for a future ticket. Very happy.

And this is why SQ always wins in my book.. plus they'll probably get you to spend those points with them again soon! :)

Great result KellyBagLady but for future reference if you need extra points buy them elsewhere such as Amex or a hotel mob / Starwood I think / cheaper than SQ & once transferred are treated as "normal " points so fully refundable.

Hi guys, didn't want to start a new thread for such a seemingly stupid question...

but if miles are expiring in "January", does this mean the beginning, or end of Jan?
