If I cancel my Westpac Earth Plat Plus card (see thread below for reason:evil:), and subsequently cancel a QF flight that I purchased using this said card, how would QF refund me the fare?? (normally they refund to card used to purchase fare). Want to know answer before I tell Westpac to pi$$ off as annual membership due next month....

You would have to provide a stat dec saying the card you had booked it on was cancelled (and yours) and provide alternate card details for a refund.

Or even an alternative card. ;)

I'm sure that Qantas and all retailers have procedures in place to deal with this eventuality. I seem to remember that they might refund the money back to the original account so that any FF point issues can be rectified and then you get to claim the money back from the bank.

I had this occur last week with a card number that I cancelled due to fraud - a replacement card number was issued but the account was essentially the same. One booking would not ticket so a stat dec and new card details needed to be provided. The other one ticketed, and the refund eventually found it's way on to my new card number. Albeit a week later. I'd say if you are to cancel the card completely (and close the account) then you will need to go the stat dec route.

I have done the stat dec thing with qantas due to a cancelled card. They just ignored it and refunded to old card. Fortunately, it was cancelled due to fraud and so the money just appeared in the new account.
