Hi all,

I have a booking for next week (simple out & back) which I would like to refund, however the call center says that will not refund the initial $200-odd of the ticket.

It was originally O class but when I needed to delay it, I paid to upgrade it to a full J ticket at the same time. I then delayed it once again via the qf website, no penalty as it is full J. Now that I don't want to travel, the call center say I will forfeit the originally O class part of the fare.

Is there a policy/T&C that supports what the call center operator is saying or support my request for a full refund?

Thanks

This both policy and defined in their terms and conditions of the the original fare. The original non-refundable portion of the fare remains non-refundable. Paying to upgrade the fare to a fully flexible and refundable fare is not an option for getting around the original fare conditions for non-refundable amount. If they allowed such a workaround, everyone would do it as a way of getting a full refund for a non-refundable fare and there would be no point in having non-refundable fares.

I figure at worst I should have an amount in credit minus a fee, as per the T&C on changes before the day of departure, but not forfeit the whole original fare.

While not refundable, could the portion not be held as a credit for future travel?

To close this one off.

I got a refund of the O to J part and a credit voucher for the original O fare. The usage of the credit is under the O conditions, such as a rebooking fee.

:)
