Apologies if this has been discussed earlier.

I have a redemption booking of J saver on Sin-Mel-Blr waitlisted late Dec 13 and return flight also waitlisted mid Jan 14. I managed to get 2 of these J savers confirmed for my wife and kid (separate booking) while my redemption is waitlisted.

At the moment there are J savers available on other flights which depart few hours out from the waitlisted flights for all sectors. As a back up plan, should I book and confirm J saver redemption (as a separate booking) just to make sure we reach our destinations few hours apart. I am obviously happy to part with the cancellation fees for this confirmed redemption if my waitlist gets confirmed.

Haven't you answered your own question? :)

Yes, I'd say it's worth booking the other flight and then cancelling (or switching to) the waitlisted flight if it becomes available.
