Redemption Nominees Restriction

Hello All,
Instead of posting a question as I usually do, I thought I'd pass on a bit of info that some may not be aware of - at least my searches on the forum haven't uncovered it.

The question was raised as to whether you can effectively "double-dip" your redemption nominees by booking flights for your nominees, then, before the flights, delete those nominees and add new ones, then book for them (different flights). (Doing this allows to you effectively redeem for 10 people every 6 months, as you can only delete a nominee after 6 months)

I couldn't find a definitive answer to this on the SIA website so rang the call centre.

The answer is:
No you cannot - the nominees must be active on your account at the time they fly. I asked why this wasn't clear in the terms and conditions and they said that the fact that they had a limit on redemption nominees (5) made it logical to assume that it was meant to stop just what I was proposing to do.

I'm not brave enough to try to get around this by simply deleting the nominees anyway and trying to re-book, but I am going to call back next month (when my six month deletion blackout period ends) and see if there is a way around this.

I realise this topic has been hashed over a number of times but this appears to be an undocumented feature of the redemption system. For example, what would happen if someone "accidentally" deleted nominees and was not informed that their redemption flights were no longer valid - can they even do this once a ticket is issued?

I'll report back next month.
regards,
Peter

On a related note, does anyone know if there'd be an issue putting in dummy passport details for nominees and then updating it down the track.

I want to book some travel for my parents, but neither has a passport, and I'd prefer to let them get the passports closer to the travel date rather than over a year before

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well I've had details of an expired passport for a nominee which I clearly had to change and changing caused no issue.

This one I do know the answer for.
It is ok to put dummy passport details in as long as you put in the correct names. I've got redemptions coming up next year for wife and kids, noone of whom have current passports.
I confirmed all of this with the call centre. You just ring them later on with the correct details.

This sounds like the typical answer you get here in SIN for anything outside the box ... "CANNOT" (lah). I can't see that once the ticket is issued that they would have the checks and balances in place to go back to the KF account to verify that passenger remains an active nominee. I may be wrong but sounds unlikely.

If it were just me I'd take the risk, but for the wife and kids I'm dotting i's and crossing t's.
The pain of having to re-schedule or worse, pay for a ticket, isn't worth the grief at home.
Regards,
Peter

Definitely no problems with changing passport details. I booked a KF ticket and changed after new passport issued

Is there an issue with passport information? I assume they only need correct name to match ticket & passport. I booked redemption tickets in 2014 for July 15 & renewed passport in May so different number expiry etc & travelled without any updating of info to KF.

In our family we have 3 Westpac Kris Flyer Platinum credit cards and therefore 3 sets of redemption nominees. So far we have not had an issue of exceeding 2 sets of nominees so it has not posed a problem at all. I can see that folks who have lots of children/grandchildren or girlfriends then that could become an issue.
