Hi all,

first post, would appreciate all advice. not sure if there is a solution but here is my problem:

-I currently have 5 nominees listed that I have booked award flights for to Thailand in January.

-I want to book award flights now for myself and 2 others to europe for next july.

-I need to add the 2 others to my nominees list in order to book, however this will mean deleting two others that have current bookings outstanding.

-I called Singapore callcenter and they advised that the nominees that are traveling to Thailand must stay on my list until they complete their travel.

-So now I cannot book flights for next July.

Is there anyway around this and did the callcenter give me correct information?

please help!

If you have a partner get cracking with a second completely new account so you have 12 choices rather than 6.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

If your redemption nominees alraedy have ticketed award flights, I cannot see how removing them as one of your nominees will affect their (future dated) flights? Maybe if you were planning to cancel their flights, but even then I can't see that being an issue as the points would simply go back to your account and the $ to the credit card used.

the operator said that when they checkin they will not be recognised on the system if they are not on my nominees list. her english was not the best but she was sure this was the case.

I don't understand this statement; does not make sense at all. Why don't you call Sq back and ask again, or even get them to check with a supervisor?

Yes that is my understanding of the KF/SQ system. It has not happened to me but a friend of mine told me he ran into that very same problem a few years back.

He advised me he booked a redemption for a nominee and was actually paid for the flight by nominee in cold hard cash - then removed nominee from his nominee list prior to travel date. Former nominee turned up in SIN to take flight and had a hell of a time getting his 'ticket' recognised. This story was relayed to me - I was not there but I think it is is genuine - personally I would never risk it.

You should be moving to run up points on a completely separate account with a partner.
Sure you cannot transfer points but getting a second account will get you set if you make points quickly.
If I needed to move more than 12 I would run up points in a third and fourth separate accounts using my 2 sons.

This is interesting to me because I had an error in one of my redemption nominees and only discovered when I booked (and reviewed) a reward. I then got my nominee change amended but this did NOT carry though to the award and was told the systems were NOT linked once redemption booked.

As i said mate iot did not happen to me but the guy who passed on this story is a good friend and is pretty sharp.

I would definitely check with KF and get it in writing first - then again with airlines you just never know - nothing would surprise.

How would this help considering points cannot be transferred?

If your partner is a supplementary card holder on your (Citibank) account, then they can redeem your Citi points into their own (newly created) SQ account.
Mrs D and I both have SQ accounts and thus 10 redemption nominees.
We transfer into the requisite account as and when needed.
