Redeeming Vietnam Airlines points

Hi everyone,

It was recently brought to my attention that I have a pile of Vietnam Airlines miles which will expire early next year if I don't use them. I don't have any plans to visit Vietnam in the next 6 months or so, so does anyone know if I can use them to fly with other Skyteam/partner airlines? Or can I convert them to gift vouchers or spend them online, like with Qantas/Virgin?

Also, does anyone have any experience with redeeming VN miles? I had a quick read of the website and it seems like quite a complicated process...

Awards on SkyTeam Airlines | Vietnam Airlines

Vietnam Airlines website shows Skyteam Award Charts, so your Vietnam points would seem to be redeemable on Skyteam airlines. AirFrance, KLM, Alitalia, AirEuropa, Czech all in your neck of the woods.
I have no experience with any of them.
