Its been a while but about 6 years back - flying DJ for the first time - on Melbourne Cup day and the cabin crew dressed up as jockeys, now that's an experience! Flight was loads of fun - and I believe we ended up racing a QF plane to Sydney - DJ won that race by the nose iirc :mrgreen:

Some would consider that childish, or even unprofessional, but I thought it was nice to see something different (and I'm sure they would have been done the serious job OK should the situation arised). Never judge a book by its cover they say?

I'm still yet to fly DJ or VA... one day, one day!

It's not because I don't want to try them, but every time I've compared airfares the prices have been around the same so hasn't been worth it for me.

No excuse not to have tea/coffee service on long haul flights and cabin crew need to be trained to be aware of the passenger requirements so if sleeping do not disturb. Leaving food trays uncollected is also not good service.

They allocated us spare seats so we had a 'bed'each.

So every WHY passenger on a V Australia flight gets allocated spare seats to use as a bed or is this just like a lottery on any airline and is the privilege of a few lucky passengers?

Yes, I agree, but it needs to be worthy competition. My experience of Virgin Blue is that the airline is let down by poor quality staff (which also seems to be the OP's experience). A further problem is a lack of a worthwhile FF scheme.


If Virgin really wants to compete it will need to address these major problems (which I don't believe it can as they are too entrenched).
