I have a J award (via virgin Australia) flight in July with EY on AUH-SYD on the A380 with the wife and two kids. We am flying into DXB two days earlier on EK from Europe.
Given all the recent press and cutbacks on EY (most recently on no chauffeur on award tickets which I was planning to use to get picked up from Dubai), lousy service wirus,I am considering cancelling and rebooking on DXB-SIN-SYD with SQ.
Flights on my dates are available with similar timings, way less points and taxes, so even after cancellation and rebooking I would end up with extra points and $$$. The question is - is the J class on SQ 777W as good a product as the studio on EY A380? I've flown on one two years ago SIN-MEL overnight and was a bit "meh". It seemed a bit tired and dark. Food was also a bit average. The flights here are a redeye to Singapore and then a day flight to Sydney.
What are your thoughts? Has anyone experienced both and had recommendations?
