So just got off the phone to Qantas after an epic call.

So after recently changing to PS i wanted to select seats for an international flight. But i get an error
"We are not able to display the seat map. Contact us or you can select an aisle or window seat preference. Selecting a seat preference will cause previously requested seats to be lost."
I know this is standard for people who change status and existing bookings not updating. So i gave QF a call and explained my error

The person kept trying to walk me through the process of loggining in and explaining where things are on the site to select seats. Since i have a domestic flight first in my booking i can always get that screen but when i go to next flight whcih is an international one the error pops up. First they kept not believing me and kept saying i can see it i can see it referring to the domestic flight that showed up not realising it was the domestic one and not the international ones.
Eventually we got to a point where they finally saw what i was talking about that i got the error when trying to get seats.
They said they dont know why i am getting this error and directed me to the online pdf seat map. What they can do is read out seats that are free and select them for me.
If in the future i want to again see what is available i need to ring up and again we can go through the process of someone reading out seats and seeing if i want to change.

All i wanted is for someone to remove and re-add my frequent flyer number so my status is recognised.
How can this be a common problem and I know more about it than qantas reps.

This is my rant over.

Ill probably end up calling again and seeing if someone else can be more helpful later.

You should be able to do this yourself (and hopefully save yourself the hassle of another long phone call) in AY MMB.

Where?? AY??

In edit passenger details there is no option to change the frequent flyer number or edit any of that.

AY = Finnair. On their web site you can enter your PRN from your QF booking and update your FF number in their MMB.

Try using the QF booking number in another airlines manage your booking tool eg. AY (Finnair)

Does anyone understand why Qantas has not provided the remove frequent flyer number feature on the manage your bookings webpages?

If anything, in my experience, AY is about the only one that can remove a frequent flyer number properly.

Just got off the phone with Qantas CS again who tried to remove and readd my FF number from the booking with no difference.
Still cant select a seat on the plane. I guess im stuck where i am and hoping there are still good seats when i check in.

I have had issues with some bookings where I could display the booking or my seat selection would not stick.

No harm in calling them occasionally to check on available seats. Also if you know which seats you want you can just ask if these seats are available.

Perhaps it was coming, but I recall they got about halfway through upgrading all the QF IT before they shelved the rest because of cost over runs... now we're being drip-fed changes, and perhaps eventually that change will come through, but the FF details/phone number fields look like the old version of the QF site... not the new one, such as MMB.
