I understand that we get a discount when booking an RACQ (AAA) rate at Australian Hiltons, but whilst in America, would an Australian motoring card be accepted?

I only ask because I am worried that it might be an unofficial rule that some wouldn't even notice while some would say "it has to be American". Does anyone have any advice/experience on the matter?

Thank you!

Yes, lots of experience. Australian motoring cards widely excepted in the US, not just at Hilton.
You won't have any problems getting the AAA rate.

I do not know about the RACQ card but the RACV card has AAA number and logo on the back so covers all that is needed.

I think AAA is about $48 US for my son if you need the driving America benefits. They are terrific with helping you do a driving holiday.
If you just want about10% off hotels then the Australian RAC card works as 397 number is the one for RACWA.
RAC cards have the AAA symbol and number on a corner of your card and the number is tiny for older folks to read.
While you have the card out of your pocket log on and buy some 5% off Woolies Wish cards seeing the card is not just for flat tyres and flat batteries.

As per the AAA link in my post, RACQ° members get many of the driving America bennies on a afilliate basis.

° Also applies to RACWA RACV NMRA etc.

Thanks for pointing that out Serfty. I am a Gold member of RACWA so I promote them.

Definitely not a problem. My RACQ card gets a good workout in the USA.
Go to the AAA affiliates link provided by Sefty.Click on the links in the show and save section for lots of shopping discounts as well.
Ones we use regularly are Gap outlets-10% off.not valid in Gap stores themselves just factory outlets.
reebok,rockport-up to 30% off.
You sometimes have to argue and point out the AAA logo on your card.

The second link in your first post certainly works for me and you can easily get to this page from there-just makes it direct I guess.
I was tethering my smartphone on an electric train and the page took too long to load - I always intended to post it. :D

I used my RAC WA card to get a small discount for Universal Studios in Hollywood. Had to point out the small AAA logo at the back and it was accepted.

This is great news, thanks guys!!

While not a huge discount, a month in the US staying only at HH-branded hotels (NYC...) will now be a little less expensive. :)
