Good evening all.

A question on behalf of my mother.

She cancelled her return booking for a trip to the USA next week. She cancelled the booking before April 30th and opted for a flight credit, which I believe expires on 31 Dec 2021.

She told me tonight that she won't travel overseas unless shops/galleries/events are back up and running. In other words, she doesn't want to travel if everything is still closed.

Are there any strategies to extend the value of this credit beyond 31DEC 2021?, IE booking a flexible fare towards the end of next year some time and then changing the dates so as to extend the credit value post expiry date?

Keeping in mind that timeframe for a full restart of the global leisure tourism sector is unknown at this point, would it be likely that QF would extend the expiry date of these credits if there isn't significant demand as many leisure travellers will be putting off OS trips?

After all, the airlines aren't expected to reach pre Covid passenger numbers until late 2023

She just doesn't want to be stung.

Thanks everybody.

Solution
Remember the use by date of the credit voucher is to use the voucher, not when travel may be done so effectively (I believe) she can book up till December 2022 as long as she books by the end of 2021.

I tend to think this time next year many things, specially in the US, one way or another will likely be mostly back to normal.. or near as.. given things are already starting to get back on track.

my two cents.
