hey guys,
hoping someone well versed with the SQ star alliance award routing rules can help me here

i want to go
ADL-SIN-ARN (via DME) - TOS (via OSL) - ARN (stop) - SIN (via DME) (stop) - ADL on SQ J and SK for the ARN - TOS via OSL sector

my initial thought was i could book a star alliance award with KF for 190k miles, use a free stopover and pay for the 2nd stopover i wanted

called today - flights all found but took almost an hour to put everything together - he kept putting me on long holds

outbound ADL through to TOS all done - 95k miles + about $200 in taxes which is right by my calculations

for the return the agent says he can't put them all onto the same ticket with the outbound as there's too many sectors in total

then he proceeds to say he'll ticket it separately, to which i said go ahead, thinking it'll be 95k miles and probably not going to get the free stopover but that's fine i'll just pay for the stopovers.

then he comes back saying due to me wanting stopovers that can't be done on a one way star alliance award, i forgot to ask if i'd have been entitled to the stopover if it was a return star alliance award.

so now he's ticketed TOS - ARN (via OSL) on SAS on 1 ticket with a 4day break before ARN - ADL with stopover in SIN on a separate ticket - both these tickets were on the same PNR though and came through on a single itinerary. However the cost is now 27,500 for the SAS sector and 105,000 for the ARN-ADL sector with $500+ taxes, presumably mostly from the SAS sector.. i'm thinking this is not wholly worthwhile and i might be better off just going for the 105,000 for ARN-ADL and pay $100 for the stopover in singapore and make my own way TOS - ARN.

my questions are:
1 - is he right about the bit re: too many sectors on 1 ticket?
2 - do you get the 1 free stopover on a star alliance return award ticket?
3 - can i pay for stopovers on a one way star alliance award ticket? so in the case above - can i ask for TOS - ADL and pay for the 2 stopovers?
4 - can i open jaw this itin above? is this something allowed? outbound as above then coming back from ARN-ADL and i'll make my own way TOS to ARN to avoid the issue with the TOS-ARN sector

thanks guys - long post hope it's not too confusing , appreciate any advice. any other ideas appreciated.

You might want to read the Terms and Conditions Section.

https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/ppsclub_krisflyer/termsconditions-kf/

There are many points. Three of these are:

A one-way award requires half the number of KrisFlyer miles required for a round-trip award, and is only applicable to the list of airlines as specified in the Star Alliance Award Chart on krisflyer.com, provided there is no stopover included in the one-way award itinerary.

An itinerary may contain flights operated by a Star Alliance member airline (excluding Singapore Airlines), or flights operated by two or more Star Alliance member airlines (including Singapore Airlines). A maximum of six travel segments are allowed per itinerary

One complimentary en route stopover is permitted for round-trip awards, unless otherwise stated below. Up to three additional stopovers are also permitted at USD100 each, regardless of the class of service

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

thanks for the info
i've fixed this with by doing an open jaw for the return
this solves the 6 sector issue
also i don't need the stopover for the ARN stop as its the start of the open jaw now
and with a round trip i can have the SIN stopover free
all for 190k

going ADL-ARN r/t would have already been 210k without the extra ARN-TOS, so i'm stoked
