Hi there

I need to book a return flights Sydney to Toronto in Premium Economy in the following dates...

MAY 1st - SYD to YYZ
MAY 7th - YYZ to SYD

Problem is PE is totally sold out from SYD to LAX on May 1st... however it's available from BNE to LAX. So the obvious choice would be to book a cheap SYD BNE connecting via LAX on May 1st and return from LAX direct to SYD on May 7th... but I cannot find a way to book this @ Qantas.com :(

Is there a way to do it without calling Qantas and being charged the call centre fee for telephone bookings??

A multi-city booking BNE-YYZ//YYZ-SYD would be the way to go but it would appear that it is not possible to book premium economy when using multi-city.

Another option is to book BNE-YYZ return in premium economy (has availability) and purchase a red e-deal SYD-BNE return.

Yep this would work but you must admit it's crazy having to fly back via BNE when there is availability on the LAX to SYD direct on the 7th... I guess this could be sorted out with a phone booking but it's crazy they charge you a fee for that when their web site is the issue

Either Qantas over the phone or a travel agent should be able to book this. I'd harass Qantas via phone and start off saying "I would book this online, but the website refuses to offer me this routing, could you please waive the assisted booking fee (and know exactly which flights you are after etc)"

I have been able to find this routing on iFly https://ifly.sabreexplore.com.au ( for $5662.63)

QF0502 (SYD-BNE)
QF0015 (BNE-LAX)
QF3245 (LAX-YYV)
QF3246 (YYV-LAX)
QF010 (LAX-SYD)
Looks good although the OP wants to get to YYZ. And I also hope that QF010 LAX-SYD is a typo as I believe that is the code used for LHR-SIN-MEL.

I don't know that it's crazy - you do get an extra 20 SCs and 2000 points after all. ;)

Have had to do this to secure a number of PE bookings due to availability and routing issues. It's annoying (especially if, like you, having to depart from a non-flagship Lounge port) - but the flipside is that you might be able to allocate a Skybed on the BNE-LAX-BNE legs if that's still possible.

Thanks John. Did a hack-job as the cut'n'paste format wasn't pretty and stuffed up a couple of things (I blame it being 1:15am here!). I've dropped in an image instead to clarify things.

No problem Mal! And your image has answered my next question.

When booking premium economy SYD-YYZ which cabin would be booked for the AA return flights LAX-YYZ?

I wonder if it would be cheaper to book premium economy to LAX and then LAX-YYZ return in economy separately?

Hey did is great - I check both dates and the BNE-LAX-BNE is with 747 with no F... so I guess I indeed may get lucky and score a Skybed :)
