Curious to know how far in advance you can book Qatar on Velocity if anyone knows.
Unless the seats have already been taken by Qatar Privilege Club members (who get access a few weeks earlier), Qatar reward seats are released at 12am AEST, 330 days before the flight.

As a general rule, 2 Business Class award seats are available for each flight. Those in the know, make sure they’re awake at 12am AEST, as more often than not the seats are gone before the morning.

Maybe qantas is phasing out QR given what a hot

So I mainly use Asia Miles and Qatar has also restricted booking access to 120 days. This really makes doing around the world difficult, as another person Perth Based. Now you really can only get in and out with Cathay and Malaysia.
Depends on where you are heading to, I suppose. For Europe you've got a few options like QF which operates nonstop services to LHR, CDG and FCO and those three airports are all of Europe in the sense that if you fly to them you can get anywhere you want in Europe on one flight or less. HA does operate a non-stop flight between PER to DOH, and I reckon the loads there can't be too high. OneWorld partners that fly to Asia are Japan Air, Sri Lankan, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines, British Airways, in addition to Qantas and their luxury brand of JétStar.
Qantas award availability out of Perth is horrid.
Depends where you are heading to and how far in advance you are looking. Certainly for close-in bookings, QF can be good (i.e. it's quite common to find non-stop classic J awards for PER to LHR for flights departing in a couple of days). Within Australia it's generally not hard to find classic availability on them ether.
