Yep, we have churned a couple of cards since booking last year so I’ll be sitting on about 1.2million points when my final cancellation comes through. This burns because I spent $800 buying top up points to make our last flight - turns out that wasn’t necessary.
We had thought we could keep the first leg of our original trip and holiday in Western Australia, but pulled the pin on that this week.

Anyway, I will be looking at EK for September 2021, although still not confident this thing will be over, so will book if something comes up knowing I can cancel if need be.

So, with Qatar now only releasing 1 J seat for most flights Aus>Doha>Europe and back, what's everyone considering doing with their points?

We have 700k points to burn getting to Europe and back in J (or F!) - originally have 2 QSuites seats booked there and back for this month but that's obviously been burned. We are now looking ahead to August/Sept 2021 and are considering 2 seats in J on EK since the 2 J seats on QR are no longer an option (unless we fly separately, which is not totally out of the realm of possibility)
Well, flights just released for Adelaide this week and I have booked for son to fly J to UK. All dates were open and available. He already has AUS permission. Additionally Ive used points for two apple watches. Did book a luxury accommodation but cancelled that due to travel uncertainty.

Update: managed to get 2 seats in J MEL-HKG on CX, HGK-DOH-BCN on QR for August 2021
Seat map MEL-HKG on CX shows the newer CX A350-1000 fit out, HKG-DOH on QR shows a QSuites 777-300ER fit out and DOH-BCN shows the older QR A350-900 fitout

Obviously a lot can happen between now and Aug 2021 (COVID mainly) and it's a bit of a gamble booking at a time like this, but we wanted something to look forward to and this coincides well with some time off we'd be having at that time next year whether we are able to travel or not.
Worst case we cancel the fare and lose 12k points.

Well, the above obviously didn't work out. I have rebooked once again, this time for 2022.
MEL-TYO (JAL), TYO-DXB-CDG (EK), MXP-DOH-KUL (QR), KUL-MEL (MH)

I was not able to find QR seats in J out of Aus/Asia but was successful in getting seats from Europe back to Asia (MXP - KUL via DOH). It's been a log wait but I'm feeling optimistic that we might finally get to experience the QSuites next year
