QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

My noting was of desire in this instance.

However, re : requesting CR seats on other metal - I could be wrong, but I was on the phone with CPT and the QBR agent was saying something along the lines of "can request a reward seat to be released on UL125 CMB-MAA" .... may be they got it wrong? or may be it is possible to request CR seat release on partners?
Maybe!? I thought it was only QF managed inventories that they could release from; but perhaps certain partners give them some leeway. It could also just be that they were offering something that should have been bookable online at the same time? Others will have more experience than me on this!

Cheers,
Matt.

side note: how about partner metal QF marketed? Would it be possible to get a CR seat released on QF5128 (BLR-MAA), operated by 6E ?
They got that totally wrong.
Cannot request an Award seat on a partner airline.

Ticket stuff ups aside when they go through the OW liaison to get an existing booking reinstated.

Perhaps this points to some better training and tools being made available? Hopefully it's a good sign for all pax who need to call.
Perhaps, but I’d still always prefer to get Hobart. There, when they discover that I’m a local, we always get chatting about various things and they go the extra mile to try and help me out what I’m trying to achieve, even suggesting things I hadn’t thought of. 😊

Phoned up today and got the loveliest person in Hobart!

4x Business rewards 23rd December PER-BNE - no economy for days either side (interestingly this flight had D and I availability, the other option 2hrs later didn't have I only D)

2x Business 1st Jan BNE-PER - No economy either and both flight options has 2I and 6D, was 2 flights showing N class so was quite interesting.

Wasn't complaining about J as still saved 5k compared to purchasing same flights thanks to a late leave approval.

I hung up actually thinking there is some hope at Qantas when you experience a staff member as lovely and helpful as I had.

Reckon I got this person today, too!

Trying to get J on QF9 MEL - PER early in the new year, but still no joy. She also shared that there were no seats in the right bucket available.

Current availability:
J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 W9 R9 T9 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N4 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

She was most apologetic that she wasn't able to help me.

I will try again in 4 weeks...

QF9 MEL-PER is notoriously hard to get, even as a P1.

The droid assesses against a range of factors, including the number of passengers already booked in U class on that flight.

Interesting comment about the "right bucket" not being available, given business is wide open in every class.

As a P1 I have tried before on QF9/10, QF1/2 and QF5/6 with that level of availability and it’s been knocked back on the basis it’s during peak times

For those routes, peak time is all the time, at least according to QF.

It also has to do with maintaining thru-availability from MEL all the way to LHR. They don't like releasing too many U class seats on the MEL-PER because it reduces their ability to sell space MEL-PER-LHR.

I've had QF1/2 seats released in the last year.
We've had this discussion in this thread before. All evidence suggests that, even for P1, it is very difficult to get seats released on QF's LHR routes — there's far more failures than successes reported in this thread. Maybe that'll ease a bit with these additional European routes. For WP, it's basically impossible.

Thanks to QF GT, I have a holiday home in TAS... will that get me any special treatment, do you think? :p

If you put that address in your profile.

When talking to Qantas call centres, if I can’t guess the accent to see where I’ve landed, I always bring up the weather. I’ll say something like “isn’t it cold/warm/ rainy today?” and judge by their reaction as to whether they’re in Hobart or not 😊

Oh wow! What were the travel dates?
April and October

I haven't been tracking, can you link to any P1 request rejections on 1/2?
Reasonable requests, that is.
Calling in July for August doesn't count, no one would have an expectation of that being approved.
Although I did have a May request for August travel request approved last year.

Would SYD-PER-FCO be easier to get? It'd be a reasonably short hop from there to any other European destination.

And what if they are contractors in the four seasons in one day capital? :)
