QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

Done both directions on a single PNR on a single phone call many times.

So having been WP for best part of last 20 years i hadnt tried the requesting release of seats, but having seen this thread thought i'd give it a go. So phoned up today and requested two F seats for QF2 LHR-SIN on 22 Oct which has 3 A class fares and numerous F seats available. Got rejected. Not sure what the worth of being WP is...i'll stick with Lifemiles/United/American schemes as at least i get what i want....

Remember there are always one, two or three tiers more on the hamster wheel of loyalty spinning above WP.

Just requested SYD - SIN QF 1 First class classic reward 1 seat which is showing A9 and F9 on 31/08/2024 and a few other dates but all declined.
Requested QF291 in J on 31/08/2024 which was successful and booked. My question is should I keep trying for the first class QF1 or is it worth the effort?

Oh, I thought you were asking about whether to keep trying for F on the same departure date despite being rejected.
If so, probably unlikely.
Other dates as you mention are worth it.

Just finished the Call and after 40 minutes, All the request for QF1 for 2,3,4 and 6,7,8 September 2024 has been declined and the reason was that there is nothing available even though the Expert flyer is showing full availability on all these dates (A9 F9).
so have to stick with my QF291 J.

Another Update for me: An agent from the Fiji Call center told me that it's too soon to request Classic rewards seats for Next September. He advised that he will keep this booking open and Call again on December 1st week to process the new request for QF1 F. If it's unsuccessful again, then call again in February. So I am just going to try in December now and let's see how that goes.

That's flat out incorrect. Not the first time an overseas call centre has made something up.

I thought that too. he said loadings have not been processed yet so in my mind I was wondering if that is the case and then why the Expert flyer is showing A9, and F9 already for the dates I want in Sep 24.

The problem is the route you're requesting (it's pretty much impossible to get premium cabin releases on QF1) rather than the time of your request. You can keep trying every few months, but it's likely to be a futile effort.

Agreed. A few posts on Rewards seat requests were successful making me hopeful that's all.

Just remember most of those are from P1s rather than WPs.

got through to hobart within 30 seconds

QF 4, JFK - AKL , U class x 1 (I9 available, only 2 seats selected on seat map for what that's worth)
May 10 2024, granted immediately by droid

Tried to get outbound QF3 also, but droid said no even though I9 for most flights .... shrug.

WP, called Plat line to to request the release of a Classic Reward seat for an Australian domestic flight, economy, mid week, off-peak, MEL-HBA (specific flight), in a month's time. Only a single whY CR seat available on-line the whole day, on the late-evening flight.

First agent, probably Sth Africa, asked for my FF # no (obviously it was given in the into call menu, together with my PIN) and what my booking ref was. I re-stated purpose but it was clear that the agent didn't have a clue what I was talking about; I suggested Hobart might be better placed to help me. Agent agreed, and asked for my Mother's maiden name for verification (no, I'm not making this up). I declined and said I'd call back later, thanks.

Second call, also Sth Africa after abt 10 mins, she knew what to do, placed me on hold for 5-7 mins and then granted. Yay! MEL-HBA, economy, off-peak in a month. Whew!

That’s interesting my JFK-AKL didn’t ticket within 15-30 despite being with Hobart. Will chase up tomorrow, at least it’s better if it’s a QF flight as opposed to a partner flight

Mine was CBR-BNE same day return and 1x Y seat ... may be yours is delayed because its international and premium cabin?? just a guess.

My last QF International manual approved CR reservation required I enter the APIS detail before it would ticket. Can you see the flight listed in your bookings?

Yes, I flagged this over in the other thread several months ago. Very important to have the min APIS in the system ASAP. From memory, just DOB should do it but might as well add the rest anyway.
