QFF Award tickets to Kuala Lumpur

Not sure if its just me. Used to be able to book QFF award tickets direct to KL on MH but now it seems that the only options available involves indirect flights (tried various dates over the year).

Tried booking SYD - KUL but only got:
SYD-MEL (QF) then MEL - KUL (MH)

Funny thing is when I tried to book MEL - KUL direct on the same dates, it gave me the option of:
MEL-SYD (QF) then SYD -KUL (MH)

Anyone else noticed this?

The impact is that the number of points required is higher.

Have you tried phoning Qantas to see if the direct MH flight can be booked?

The last two times I've looked at MH award flights, they haven't shown on QF. In both cases seats were available through AA and in one of those cases I phoned QF who could see the seat I wanted.

Oh oh... sounds to me like another instance of phantom award availability. If the flight is showing available as a connection but not direct, and married segments isn't a factor, then probably the award doesn't actually exist.

Worth calling Qantas, in any case.

Thanks Danger. Called Qantas up and got it sorted. Direct flight awarded and they didn’t charge their booking fee.
