Not the first QF A380 to visit but the first to overnight!

Qantas 94, with direct service between Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX) and Melbourne Tullamarine Airport (YMML/MEL) diverted to Honolulu due to a passenger requiring medical assistance. VH-OQK, a A380-842 (c/n 63), was unloaded and towed to the hardstands after determining that the crew's flight duty time limitations would exceed the acceptable time allowed. The flight is due to depart for MEL later tonight.

thanks, not sure where I got 12 from!

Yep, had some friends on that flight.

They were put up at the Waikiki Beach Marriott, given return cab vouchers and provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel.

They were thrilled as they'd never been to Hawaii :)

I hope the pax involved is alright. But I'm surprised this hasn't popped up on nonews.com.au as some kind of drama caused by Qantas with testimonials by passengers of the horrific, almost all expenses paid, night in a Waikiki hotel.

No disrespect to the passenger who was crook here, but just a question, in this situation, QF obviously needs to accomodate all those pax, feed them etc, would they make a claim on the Pax insurance???? or would they carry their own insurance to cover these incidents?

Qantas is self insured so anything from a weather or medical diversion comes from Qantas pockets.

Wow. Ok thanks for that, didn't think they would be self insured, but never too old to learn. Thanks

Excuse the typos, this was sent from my iPhone using Fat fingers
