Randomly checking Flightaware, I have noticed that flights on the 19th and 24th this month have both been around the 20 hour mark for flight time, passing over Hawaii which is not usual route. They do not appear to have landed at HNL.

Any word on what has happened on these dates? If the pattern continues, another 20 hour flight will occur on the 29th.

Did you note the departure time that Flightaware claims for these 20 hour flights?

Could it be a splash and dash in HNL. Sometime to do with strong headwinds this time of year.

The flightaware flight time is wrong.

That's a flight time of 13hrs 20mins if my maths is correct.

Flightware is not an actual flight time calculation - look at qantas.com or the LAX airport website for the better and up to date figures

Thanks for the replies all. Obviously, I shouldn't trust Flightaware as much as I have previously! I knew it sounded a little weird, 20 hours to LAX!!
